Year 1 and 2

Welcome to Beech Class!

Home learning

Please go to our Home Learning Page to access all the home learning for this week.

This half term in Beech Class, our topic will be 'Explorers!'.

Our wider curriculum subject focuses are History and Design Technology with some Geography as well. We will use our topic to write an information text as well as retell a story.

We will be learning about the explorer Ernest Shackleton and his story of exploring the Antarctic to then move onto learning all about the Titanic.

For DT, we will be designing and creating a boat that can float! This will mean we will have to choose suitable materials that will float and create a strong and sturdy design.

Our maths learning will begin by learning all about Money. Recognising the UK coins and notes, comparing the value of the coins and notes and adding sums of money. We will then move onto fractions towards the middle of the half term and finish with a mini unit recapping what we have learnt in Spring Term.
