Lockdown News St Cuthberts

Dear Parents

Following our training day today, and assuming Mr Johnson doesn’t do a massive U turn tonight at 8pm, we are looking forward to seeing the children tomorrow. You may know that some local schools are not opening – this may be linked to their own risk assessment of the number of staff they have available to teach and support learning. Both our schools currently have a full complement of staff who feel they are as safe as they can be in our respective schools at this time. We will continue to be directed by government announcements.

In assessing risk, we would like to stress that the children should only bring into school the necessary equipment from home. To minimise risk we would ask that the children come to school WEARING THEIR OUTDOOR PE KIT on the days that PE takes place as follows:-

PE days (come to school in PE kit)

Ash (Nursery / Reception)

Tuesday – starting Tuesday 12th January

(please still bring forest school kit on Thursdays)

Beech (Year /2)

Tuesday* and Friday

*Starting Tuesday 12th January

Cherry (Year 3/4)

Wednesday and Friday this week

Wednesday and Thursday from WB 11th Jan

Willow (Year 5/6)

Wednesday and Friday

Fountains Earth

Thursday and Friday

The children then only need to bring:-

  • Water bottle
  • Home learning back (book bag or plastic wallet)
  • Lunchbox

No rucksacks / large bags in school please

Please note that swimming for year Cherry class and for Fountains Earth will not take place this term – until the risk of covid transmission decreases.

Your help and support means a great deal to us in making things work in an ongoing period of uncertainty. Thank you so much!

As a reminder:-

  • Drop off and pick up same as Autumn Term.
  • DO NOT send your child to school if they are unwell or displaying any of the COVID symptoms. Equally, if a family member is suffering and the household need to isolate until testing has taken place please inform us. It is important that you let the office know in advance so that we can make preparations for home learning and note the reason for absence.
  • Children are expected to be in school and any absence other than illness will be marked as unauthorised. Learning is provided at school unless children have to isolate. In this case home learning will be provided. Schools are not expected to provide home learning for families who choose not to send their children into school as this absence is unauthorised.
  • If your child requires a breakfast or after school club space at St Cuthbert’s from Tuesday onwards this MUST BE BOOKED by Emailing alilley@st-cuthberts.n-yorks.sch.uk. Please do this at least 24 hours in advance. Fountains Earth children do not need to book.
  • E mail or call us. Avoid coming into school and should you need to do this, please wear a mask and wait in the entrance area cordoned off inside the front door of school.

See you tomorrow
