  • Sunday 28 February 2021 Moveathon - Fundraiser, Lofthouse 6th March Petra and Thora, who are pupils at Fountains Earth Church of England Primary School in Lofthouse, have been concerned by the number of homeless in the recent cold weather as well as those who cannot afford food or heating. They have therefore decided to organise a sponsored ‘MOVEATHON’ on Saturday March 6 to raise funds for the SALVATION ARMY. Children (or adults) can take part at any time in their own homes or gardens. Toilet breaks are allowed but drinks must be taken whilst exercising. The movement must be non-stop to qualify.

  • Friday 23 July 2021 Drop off and Collection Routines from September 2021 As this academic year is drawing to a close, we thought it would be an opportune moment to inform you of some changes to the start and end of the school day. This will affect the way in which you drop off and collect children at school and will commence on the first day of the return to school after the summer holidays. As always, our main priority is to ensure that the children are safe and have a calm start to the school day.
  • Friday 12 February 2021 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 12th February 2021 As the half term draws to a close we await further news as to the official date for schools to re-open. As soon as I know anything I will pass the information on to you. We know it will be Monday March 8th at the earliest. Until then, take a break from your huge efforts with remote learning for a week. Thank you for all the work, videos and photos you have sent in. They are wonderful to see.
  • Thursday 17 December 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 18th December 2020 After what has been the most bizarre of years can I take this opportunity to wish everyone a peaceful, healthy and happy Christmas. The opportunity to rest, recuperate and celebrate with family has never been more welcome to all of us I am sure. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
  • Thursday 3 December 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 4th December 2020 At school, we are following the Diocese ‘Rhythm of Life Advent Journey’ with children taking part in daily reflections around seven positive habits – celebration, sharing, rest, encouragement, prayer, reflection & creativity. These all have a spiritual element to them, but they are positive things for all of us to consider, whatever our faith position.
  • Thursday 5 November 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 6th November 2020 Sadly we were unable to celebrate harvest in our usual way this year. These opportunities to 'learn and grow together' are so sorely missed by us all. We still celebrated harvest with the children and thank you for enabling us to make our charitable donations in the usual way. The local food bank relies upon your generous donations at this time of year and we thank you for your donations for this worthy cause.
  • Thursday 15 October 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 16th October 2020 Sadly we are unable to celebrate harvest at the Church in our usual way this year. These opportunities to 'learn and grow together' are so sorely missed by us all. We would like to celebrate harvest and to make our charitable donations in the usual way. The local food bank relies upon your generous donations at this time of year and we would very much like to collect items of dried, tinned and packaged goods for this worthy cause.
  • Thursday 1 October 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 2nd October 2020 We are missing celebrating our stars of the week with you all! Each week we continue to hold our celebrations collective worship—just in a different way! At Fountains Earth we are able to celebrate as a whole school and at St Cuthbert’s we are celebrating in class.
  • Thursday 17 September 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 18th September 2020 I am so grateful to parents, staff and the whole community for helping our schools to settle the children into a new year of learning whilst also dealing with 'the new normal'. Parents have been vigilant in reporting absences, keeping us informed, leaving rucksacks at home and asking questions and observing the need to keep visitors into school to a minimum. THANK YOU ALL!
  • Monday 13 July 2020 St Cuthberts School Reopening Plans for September Final plans have now been made for our full re-opening in September. I wanted to share this with you before the summer break so that you can prepare your children. Many of the children have already got used to the ‘new normal’ in school but for those that haven’t been in since March there are some routines that will be different.
  • Thursday 9 July 2020 St Cuthbert's Awarded Healthy Schools Silver St Cuthbert's are celebrating achieving the Silver Healthy Schools Award after submitting all of the evidence required for the award. Both Fountains Earth and St Cuthbert's have the silver award and are working towards their gold.
  • Tuesday 16 June 2020 St Cuthbert's - Update from Head Teacher Having considered all scenarios we are unable to invite any more children into St Cuthbert’s before September without compromising children, family and staff safety.
  • Friday 5 June 2020 St Cuthbert's Staffing for September 2020 Whilst we are living very much ‘in the moment’ with the current situation and awaiting further announcements, I wanted to inform parents of the teaching staff arrangements for September 2020. It will be here soon enough and we have been very busy in the background as you will see!
  • Friday 20 March 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 20th March 2020 Thank you so much for your support and patience during this difficult time. Staff will update class pages on the website each Monday during term time whilst we are closed. It would be great if the children can do some work at home but please take time to enjoy your family. Keep safe and live a slower pace of life for a while.
  • Friday 6 March 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 6th March 2020 Value for life This half term our value for life is Courage. The children are taking inspiration from courageous role models from past and present. They are learning about the feeling of being courageous in different situations including having the courage to stand up for what is right and to share views and opinions. We are also learning to have the courage to perform and the Royal Hall concert will be the perfect opportunity for that.
  • Friday 14 February 2020 St Cuthbert's School Newsletter 14th February 2020 Today is Mrs Hardcastle’s last ‘official’ day at St Cuthbert’s although she will still spend some time volunteering with us and will continue as a Governor (thank goodness!). Families, children and staff all have hugely mixed feelings about this– mainly because of the huge amount she does for all of us and the difference she makes every day. We will miss her experience, skills and expertise very much but most of all we will miss the person she is. Relentlessly positive, solution focused, a ‘mucker inner’, thoughtful, generous and most importantly never, ever gives up on any of our children no matter what. Thank you all for your donations to her gift which was presented to her during sharing assembly today.
