We believe that the Early Years Foundation Stage lays the foundation on which all future learning is built. Our aim is for each child to leave Reception and enter KS1 confident and independent, with a true love of learning. It is important that our children have ownership of their learning, and have their opinions and interests weaved throughout the indoor and outdoor provision, as well as trips and extra-curricular activities.

In teaching the Early Years we strive to recognise the varied starting points of each unique child. Through strong professional relationships, purposeful observations and good home links, we endeavour to provide each individual child with the attitude, morals and skills to become the best they can be. We believe this is crucial for the significant transition from EYFS to KS1. We have therefore created a curriculum which is accessible, diverse and exciting which provides a sequential acquisition of knowledge and skills in preparation for Year One.

We are aware that play is a crucial role in the Early Years, and work to ensure that we provide children with a stimulating environment and memorable experiences. Through a careful balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities we allow children to access their education in a way which is suited to them as an individual and unique learner. As a result, children will develop cognitively, physically, academically and emotionally.

We aim to work closely with parents and care givers to ensure each child has a well-rounded education. This allows children to be supported in their learning away from school and therefore reach their personal goals and maximum potential.
